What's Next?
What’s next for sustainability and environmental awareness?
Currently some of the biggest issues in the industry are food production and energy consumption. Lots of dairy and meat alternatives are being created to stop the effect of having livestock and poultry on farms has. In addition, algae is being used to produce biodiesel and fuels. All of these alternatives are stepping stones toward better longer lasting alternatives that will come in the future. For my venture it is important for us to find companies with advancements and help them grow and find solutions to these ongoing issues.
From my three interviews I learned that new successful research include new types of farming techniques that allow for controlled inside growth of many veggies. There is a bio gas being produced from corn that could fuel jets. And lastly that maintaining specific farming techniques can actually help put carbon back into the soil instead of releasing it from the soil. My interviews also shed some light on my venture. One person suggested that spreading the word to every sector in the agribusiness and energy sectors can help spread the word of our mission instead of relying on a select few to deliver candidates. Another interviewer said to look at what other nations all over are doing because the distance could lead to not knowing a solution existed somewhere else. The last suggestion given was to hav patience because many people in farming have been doing it the same way for a very long time and tend to be stubborn.
All of this supports ideas of having an international company with a mission that many others follow. This will help aid in communication with other countries and in finding allies and people to support our cause. It is important to spread awareness that there is a willingness to help those with innovative ideas to improve our food production and energy standing with the earth. Soon our resources will be depleted and we will need to find a solution. Some people may not want to worry about it because it won’t happen in their lifetime but that not fair to your family and the future generations to come. It’s a team effort and that is the direction I want this venture to go. Goal oriented, team driven, and critical because not everyone has a break through.
New market
The market I’ve been mostly aiming for are the affluent in finance and the entrepreneurial scientists and economists. As a new market I want to think about poor agricultural inclined neighborhoods. Rundown and forgotten but with a population. An idea sparked that could align with mission of my venture. Using neighborhoods like this could be very useful for my company. If I could create a government approved program where any town in the country could sign up for rehabilitation using new techniques and implementation then we could utilize these towns to benefit the company and help them rebuild. If we could use these towns to implement all these new innovative techniques we find to figure out the best recipe for growth before publication then we could help rebuild cities while perfecting the art of a new food source. It would have nothing genetically altered or any growth hormones either. We are a cruelty free organic company.
In my two interviews with people from small agriculturally inclined towns, I ran the idea by them and they did not have many reservations. Obviously they didn’t want to be used in any scientifically altered experiments but when I clarified all we wanted was the use of cheap neglected land for purposes that benefit us both they seemed to support the idea. One was more stubborn than the other but they almost don’t have much of a choice with how bad things are getting in their town. It’s up to my venture to stay true to our word and not take advantage of them. One them said that waiting until you are a credible and honest company to start these ventures would be smart. It would be easier to gain trust.
Everything I learned in these interviews kind of fit what I was expecting. The one man telling me to wait was a surprise since you’d think they wanted to start as soon as possible yet it showed their wariness for strangers to come to their land but the willingness to allow it for the bigger picture of creating a better life for their families.

Hi Monica,
ReplyDeleteI think you have some very interesting ideas about what your next step might be. I'm all in with you on how we need to make farming more sustainable and come up with alternatives to having livestock and poultry on farms. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm deeply concerned about the way animals are treated in the food industry. Many of the animals suffer abuse and health issues their entire lives which should never have to happen. I also agree with you that if the world continues on this path without coming up with valid alternatives we will indeed use up all our resources and be left without a solution which will be devastating to everyone.
Great Post!
Monica, I really like your idea of sustainability and coming up with alternatives to prevent 100% depletion of our natural resources. It's very smart of you to want to target the financial and the entrepreneurial scientists and economists that are capable of making this happen. They are the brains and actually have the power to come up with solutions to your proposal.
